Saturday, April 20 @ 4:00pm
Celebrate the release of the heartwarming new Australian
dramedy at Dendy Southport’s Q&A screening followed by an in-person
discussion with the film’s writer, director, and star John Jarratt and actor
Gerard O’Dwyer. Hailed as the feel-good movie of the year, this powerful film
tackles important themes centred around diversity, inclusion, and family.
Sal is a man in his thirties with Down Syndrome. He lives with his mother, Sophie, a struggling artist with a smoking habit and an aggressive form of lung cancer. Sophie only has weeks to live, and with no living family members, when she passes, her son will become a ward of the state, or homeless - Sal refuses to become either. Sal's only hope is to locate his father, but Sal was a product of a one-night stand, and Sophie can only recall fragments of that night. Armed with only those few clues, Sal plays detective and embarks on a journey through inner city Sydney to find his father.
