All tickets $15 or less for Thursday April 4 only
Experience Mohamed Kordofani’s critically acclaimed new
Sudanese drama on opening day and enjoy tickets for $15 or less. An engrossing
exploration of female friendship across devastating divides, Kordofani's debut
feature is the first Sudanese film to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and
the winner of last year’s Un Certain Regard - Freedom Prize.
Set in the years prior to the separation of South Sudan,
Mona (Eiman Yousif), an upper-middle-class former popular singer from the
North, seeks to attenuate her feelings of guilt for causing the death of a
Southern man by employing Julia (Siran Riak), his unsuspecting widow, as her
maid. Unable to confess her transgressions, she decides to leave the past
behind, unaware that the country’s turmoil may find its way into her home and
put her face to face with her sins.
